Introduction:
A master of literary crime fiction, Xu Yigua crafts suspenseful, psychologically rich narratives that expose the moral complexities and hidden truths behind everyday lives and institutional power.
甜蜜点 Sweet Spot
On a summer night, a couple is brutally murdered in a wetland park. The woman’s husband is arrested but escapes during a police reenactment. In the aftermath, the lives of those involved take dramatic turns.
Sweet Spot offers a sharp literary lens on grassroots political realities, revealing the inner workings and psychological depths of local governance.
双眼台风 Double-eyed Typhoon
During a routine interrogation, a suspect unexpectedly confesses to a rape and murder case from over a decade ago—one that had already been “solved,” with the alleged perpetrator executed. As pressure mounts from higher authorities, media, and public opinion, the legal system is torn between covering up the past or uncovering the truth.
Twin-Eyed Typhoon vividly captures the internal struggle within law enforcement and the judiciary, as individuals grapple with justice versus self-preservation. The novel’s title symbolizes the clash of opposing forces beneath the storm.
烈日灼心 The Dead End
Seven years ago, a brutal family massacre in Xilong, Fujian shocked the nation—five members of this family were killed in one day. The prime suspects, Yang Zidao, Xin Xiaofeng, and Chen Bijue, vanished without a trace. Now living quietly
in Xiamen, Yang drives a taxi, Xin works as an police assistant, and Chen raises a girl nicknamed “Tail” at a fishery.
When experienced officer Yi Guchun is transferred to Xin’s team, he quickly recognizes Xin’s talent—but also senses a disturbing link to the unsolved case. Meanwhile, Yang crosses paths with Yi’s sister, and fate begins to close in. The three men, desperate for redemption, find themselves caught in a past they cannot escape.
