Introduction:
Moore’s Law is coming to an end, but the computing revolution will not end. Better software programming, 3D chips and quantum computing will emerge, with cloud computing becoming the industry’s best response to the demise of Moore’s Law. And the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT) will bring us closer to a “vanishing point”, where computers will go from being big to small in size, and will then become “invisible”, making computing ubiquitous and intelligence part of everyday life. This book is written by Wu Hanqing, a renowned expert and scholar in the field of computing, representing his and Ali’s company’s feelings, outlook and insights on computing, the ultimate proposition of science and technology. This book is the first of three volumes, focusing on the mathematics that is important to computing, covering life stories of important mathematicians, their mathematical achievements, and relevant historical facts.
