Introduction:
This Series covers dozens of ecological maps of insects, birds, butterflies, spiders, dragonflies, plants, and other species in China. It has won the “China Outstanding Publication Award, China Publishing Government Award, National Excellent Science Popularization Works Award of the Ministry of Science and Technology, National Publishing Fund, and National Key Publication Planning Project”, etc.
The Illustrated Series not only embodies the cutting-edge and scientific value of academic reference, but also reflects the distinctiveness and practicality of species identification in popular science. It can also combine the artistic and appreciative aspects of natural aesthetics. The Curiosity Illustrated Series has 16 titles by now.
This book includes all known 71 families of spiders in China, with a total of 1,139 species, accounting for one-fourth of the known species of spiders in China. It provides the main identification features of each family and identification plates for representative species, as well as at least one ecological photo for various spiders. The book features nearly 2,300 ecological photos of spiders and 130 microscopic photos, accurately depicting the natural colors and microscopic structures of representative species.
About the Author:
Zhisheng ZHNANG, Researcher and Doctoral Supervisor of the School of Life Sciences, Southwest University. In 2006, he received a doctorate degree in zoology. He is currently a member of the Chinese Animal Arachnid
Society, the International Arachnid Society, the American Arachnid Society, and the British Arachnid Society. He has presided over more than 20 projects at all levels such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China,
published more than 70 academic papers, discovered and described more than 100 new species, and carried out a large number of spider revision work.
Luyu WANG has been engaged in the study of spider diversity and fauna classification since 2008 and received a master’s degree in zoology in 2013. In the past ten years, he has organized and participated in many scientific expeditions of different categories, and his trips have spread to all provinces in the country. Familiar with the living habits of various spiders, a large number of ecological photos have been taken; Most of the common spider taxa in China have been identified. He has participated in more than 10 projects at all levels, published more than 10 academic papers, and participated in the compilation of 3 academic works.
